Overview

As International Employment Lawyer, you advise HR and business leaders across APAC and EMEA to balance compliant employment practices with business goals. You will manage complex disputes, lead risk assessment, and shape cross-border labour strategies within a multinational setting. Your work supports organisational change and ensures fair processes, while collaborating with People Partners to align with PayPal’s values. Responsibilities

  • Provide timely, strategic employment law guidance to enable business decisions while managing risk
  • Advise on high-stakes issues and disputes with a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver effective legal services
  • Develop risk management frameworks to safeguard PayPal's interests
  • Escalate complex issues to senior legal leadership when needed
  • Lead and manage employee litigation matters in coordination with external counsel
  • Advise on internal investigations and ensure fair processes aligned with PayPal’s standards
  • Support workforce change projects with proactive legal risk assessment and guidance
  • Deliver employment law training to HR, managers, and stakeholders
  • Contribute to cross-border alignment within the Employment Legal International team
  • Identify and manage employment-related risk across regions
  • Travel as required

Key requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience and a Juris Doctorate OR equivalent education/experience
  • Qualified lawyer in APAC or EMEA jurisdictions with strong employment and labour law experience
  • Experience across two or more jurisdictions within APAC or EMEA
  • Proven senior in-house experience in a multinational organization
  • Experience managing complex litigation, investigations, and workforce change projects
  • Commercially pragmatic and capable of advising senior stakeholders across multiple countries
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills in English; additional European languages are advantageous
  • Strong judgment and stakeholder management; ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced international environment
