The Company PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other.

We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do – and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

PayPal is looking for a Director-level marketing leader to drive customer growth in the UK by owning and scaling our CRM lifecycle marketing and paid media strategy. This role will lead end-to-end planning and execution across acquisition, onboarding, habituation, cross-sell, retention, and winback—working cross-functionally to turn customer insights into measurable business impact.

You will shape how we grow and retain customers in the UK by building an integrated lifecycle and media engine that improves acquisition quality, engagement, retention, and long-term customer value.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the UK lifecycle marketing strategy across the full customer journey: acquisition, onboarding, habit formation, cross-sell, retention, winback
  • Build and optimize CRM lifecycle programs across channels (e.g., email, push, in-app, landing experiences; and where applicable, other direct channels)
  • Lead paid media strategy and execution in the UK across key performance and growth channels (e.g., search, paid social, display/video, affiliates), aligned to lifecycle objectives—not siloed channel KPIs
  • Lead integrated planning for Tier 1 moments (seasonal peaks and priority campaigns), ensuring CRM and paid media work together with clear messaging, audiences, and measurement
  • Partner with Analytics to define and track the right KPIs (activation, repeat usage, retention, LTV, ROI), and run a strong test-and-learn agenda (incrementality, holdouts, experimentation)
  • Develop segmentation and trigger strategies driven by behavior (e.g., drop-off, friction signals, key site/app behaviors) to intervene earlier and more effectively
  • Manage budgets and performance, identify efficiency opportunities, and improve ROI through continuous optimization
  • Lead agency and vendor partners to ensure high-quality execution and strong performance accountability
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Partnerships, Analytics, Creative, and Legal/Privacy teams to ensure compliant, high-impact growth programs

What Success Looks Like:

  • A clear, integrated UK lifecycle + paid media growth plan with measurable targets
  • Expanded lifecycle journey coverage and improved customer engagement and retention
  • Higher-quality acquisition and stronger downstream value (repeat usage, product adoption, lifetime value)
  • Strong execution and measurement of Tier 1 moments, with clear learnings and impact

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of marketing experience with deep expertise in CRM/lifecycle marketing and paid media/performance marketing
  • Proven track record building lifecycle programs that drive measurable improvements in activation, retention, repeat behavior, and customer value
  • Strong experience planning and optimizing paid media across major channels with clear ROI accountability
  • Analytical fluency and comfort partnering with BI/Analytics teams on measurement, experimentation, and performance diagnostics
  • Ability to lead cross-functional programs, influence senior stakeholders, and operate with strong planning and execution discipline
  • Experience working in a privacy-first environment; English required
