The Company PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy.

We operate a global, two-sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person. PayPal is more than a connection to third-party payment networks. We provide proprietary payment solutions accepted by merchants that enable the completion of payments on our platform on behalf of our customers.

We offer our customers the flexibility to use their accounts to purchase and receive payments for goods and services, as well as the ability to transfer and withdraw funds. We enable consumers to exchange funds more safely with merchants using a variety of funding sources, which may include a bank account, a PayPal or Venmo account balance, PayPal and Venmo branded credit products, a credit card, a debit card, certain cryptocurrencies, or other stored value products such as gift cards, and eligible credit card rewards. Our PayPal, Venmo, and Xoom products also make it safer and simpler for friends and family to transfer funds to each other.

We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Our beliefs are the foundation for how we conduct business every day. We live each day guided by our core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness. Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do - and they push us to ensure we take care of ourselves, each other, and our communities.

Job Description Summary: We are seeking a pragmatic, analytically minded professional with strong prudential insight to join our risk management team. This is a high-impact role for someone who can bridge regulatory knowledge with hands-on delivery across all risk stripes - especially in the areas of prudential and enterprise risk - within financial services and payments.

You will design and implement risk frameworks that address capital adequacy, safeguarding and support enterprise-level stress testing and wind-down planning. Technical skills, especially in Excel and/or Python, will be instrumental to success in this role.

Meet our team: We are a multidisciplinary team focused on embedding risk management and regulatory expectations into the heart of business decision-making. Our background spans fintech, banking, regulatory authorities, and leading consultancies. We partner cross-functionally with finance, legal, compliance, and operational leaders to manage enterprise risk end-to-end. The culture is fast-paced, delivery-focused, and intellectually curious - we value rigor, responsiveness, and action. You will report directly to the Head of Risk and contribute to shaping regulatory-facing outputs and Board-level insights.

Your way to impact:

  • Contribute to the second line assessment and oversight of capital adequacy and safeguarding, ensuring policies are implemented, risk-informed and regulatory-aligned.
  • Deliver enterprise-wide stress testing exercises and refresh of wind-down plan aligned to regulatory expectations and industry practice.
  • Enhance enterprise risk management through robust risk identification, control design, risk analytics, and scenario testing.
  • Build scalable tools and reporting mechanisms to monitor key risk metrics and regulatory thresholds.
  • Influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams with structured, data-driven insights.

Your day-to-day:

  • Analyse financial and operational risk exposures and evaluate adequacy of capital and safeguarding controls to ensure prudential requirements are met.
  • Develop automated tools and models (preferably using Excel/Python) to monitor and report risk metrics and support stress testing planning and execution activities.
  • Support regulatory submissions and internal risk governance processes with high-quality analytics and reporting.
  • Liaise with external auditors, legal counsel, and regulatory advisors on matters of prudential and operational risk.
  • Draft and maintain risk policies, Board papers, and regulatory documentation that reflect evolving regulatory expectations.

What you need to bring:

  • An undergraduate degree or higher in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in financial services, preferably with exposure to payments, fintech, banking, and/or consulting environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as Safeguarding, EMR, Basel, IFRS, RRPs.
  • Proven experience in completing ICAAPs/ILAAPs, stress testing, wind-down planning, including quantification techniques of capital charges across credit, operational, and market risk.
  • Experience working in a second line risk function or treasury team with solid knowledge of financial, liquidity, operational and/or credit risk.
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, or automation, with an ability to translate insights into action.
  • Experience in project and programme management, designing and executing plans to ensure delivery on time and quality, and escalating risk and issues appropriately.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, documentation, and communication skills.

We know the confidence gap and imposter syndrome can get in the way of meeting spectacular candidates. Please don’t hesitate to apply.
