Company PayPal has been revolutionizing commerce globally for more than 25 years. Creating innovative experiences that make moving money, selling, and shopping simple, personalized, and secure, PayPal empowers consumers and businesses in approximately 200 markets to join and thrive in the global economy. We operate a global, two‑sided network at scale that connects hundreds of millions of merchants and consumers. We help merchants and consumers connect, transact, and complete payments, whether they are online or in person.
At PayPal, we’re committed to building an equitable and inclusive global economy. We offer comprehensive, choice‑based programs to support all aspects of personal wellbeing—physical, emotional, and financial—delivering meaningful value where it matters most.
This is a Product Strategy & Portfolio Operations role at the centre of GPS (Global Product Solutions) — PayPal’s global product engine. You own the intelligence layer that keeps GPS operating with clarity and intent: tracking what’s in flight, diagnosing risk, and translating portfolio complexity into decisions for SVP and EVP leadership.
The GPS Business & Product Operations team is the strategic backbone of Global Payment Solutions. We partner with GPS leadership to drive operating rhythm, strategic planning, and executive communications across a global, cross‑product portfolio. Small by design, high‑impact by intent.
Your impact: You will build and own the GPS portfolio operating system—designing tracking, governance, and reporting that SVP and EVP leadership rely on. This is an ownership role: you set the bar, define the framework, and ensure clear visibility on where GPS stands.
Essential Responsibilities:- Identify issues and recommend best practices based on specialized expertise.
- Lead functional projects and programs that contribute to business improvements.
- Partner with teams to analyze business trends and inform strategic decisions.
- Facilitate collaboration among team members to enhance project outcomes.
- Assess and report on the progress of strategic initiatives within the function.
- 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Your day‑to‑day:
- Design and own the GPS portfolio tracking system — OKR progress, roadmap status, initiative health, cross‑team dependencies — and ensure it is the single source of truth for GPS leadership.
- Identify cross‑portfolio risks, gaps, and conflicts before they surface as execution problems; drive escalation and resolution.
- Build and maintain the GPS strategic narrative—translating product complexity into a coherent story for SVP, EVP, and board‑level audiences.
- Own end‑to‑end preparation of SVP and EVP‑level materials—SteerCo, QBRs, board updates, and strategic reviews; you set the quality bar and are accountable for the output, not a contributor to it.
- Conduct market, competitive, and internal performance analysis to identify opportunities and risks at the GPS portfolio level.
- Serve as connective tissue across GPS product, commercial, and data functions—surfacing misalignment before it becomes a problem.
- Design and implement portfolio governance frameworks—cadences, intake processes, prioritisation criteria—that product leads and GPS leadership actually use.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate strategic analysis, draft executive communications, and improve the speed and quality of portfolio reporting.
- Minimum of 3–4 years in management consulting out of 7–10 years of experience in product strategy, product operations, or strategic operations in a technology company—demonstrable track record of operating at senior levels.
- Demonstrated ownership of SVP/EVP‑level communications and strategic materials and accountability for what goes in the room.
- Strong analytical foundation: quantitative modelling, data interrogation, and KPI frameworks.
- Proven ability to influence without authority across senior stakeholders and matrixed organisations.
- Deep product fluency—hands‑on experience with roadmap planning, OKR frameworks, dependency management, and product team operating rhythms; you can speak credibly with PMs and translate their complexity upward without losing fidelity.
- Active use of AI tools in day‑to‑day work—you already use AI to accelerate analysis, drafting, and synthesis, and can speak to how it has changed the way you operate.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or a global product‑led technology company.
- MBA from a tier‑1 institution or equivalent structured analytical training.
- Experience building portfolio management, governance, or product operations infrastructure from scratch—not just inheriting and running an existing system.
- Proficiency in Excel/Sheets, Looker, or Tableau—able to build a portfolio model or interrogate a metric set without hand‑holding.
- Experience working across multiple markets or regions; understands the local‑to‑global product tension.
- Hands‑on application of AI to strategic work—using AI for competitive research, portfolio modelling, exec narrative drafting, or insight synthesis; not just awareness, but practised use that demonstrably improves output quality and speed.
We strive to create a flexible, balanced work culture with a holistic approach to benefits, including generous paid time off, healthcare coverage for you and your family, and resources to create financial security and support your mental health.
