The Director of Payment Systems is a senior leadership role initially standing as Deputy Managing Director of the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) as it consolidates into the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The role will lead a directorate of approximately 60 to 100 people across several departments, influencing the future of payments and financial services in the UK.

- Ensuring the PSR meets its objectives and commitments, shaping the medium-to-long term strategy for the PSR/Payment Systems Directorate in coordination with the Payments and Digital Assets Directorate.
- Leading specific PSR work such as market studies, interventions, supervision of payment systems operators and firms, and reforming the supervisory model.
- Building a strong, diverse and inclusive directorate through talent attraction and development.
- Maintaining awareness of emerging business models, technology and assessing their impact on consumers and markets.
