The Ground Maintenance is responsible for creating and maintaining an aesthetically pleasing and welcoming outdoor environment for hotel guests. This role encompasses landscape design, installation, and meticulous maintenance of the hotel's grounds, ensuring they reflect the hotel's brand standards and provide a safe and enjoyable space for guests. The Gardener will work collaboratively with other hotel departments to enhance the overall guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Landscape Design and Planning: Consult with hotel management to understand landscaping needs and align with the hotel's aesthetic. Develop landscape designs and plans that enhance the guest experience, including plant selection, layout, and hardscape features for areas such as entrances, patios, pool areas, and gardens. Provide cost estimates for materials and labor.
- Landscape Installation: Prepare sites for planting, including soil preparation, grading, and drainage, focusing on areas visible to guests. Plant trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation to create visually appealing displays. Install and maintain hardscape features such as patios, walkways, fences, and retaining walls, ensuring guest safety and accessibility. Construct and maintain water features, such as ponds and fountains, as applicable. Install and maintain irrigation systems, prioritising efficient water usage. Lay turf or sow seeds for lawns, maintaining a pristine look. Maintain planter boxes located at hotel entrances.
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks, including mowing, pruning, weeding, fertilising, and pest control, with a focus on areas frequented by guests. Monitor plant health and treat diseases or pests promptly. Maintain irrigation systems and other landscape features, ensuring proper functionality. Clear debris and maintain overall cleanliness of the landscape, including outdoor furniture. Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow removal (if applicable), and seasonal planting. Maintain outdoor lighting fixtures. Setup and maintain outdoor areas for hotel events.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain a variety of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and power tools. Ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
- Guest Interaction and Customer Service: Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor, interacting positively with guests. Respond promptly to guest requests and address any landscape-related concerns. Provide guests with information regarding the hotel's outdoor spaces.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines, prioritising guest and personal safety. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensure a safe working environment for themselves and others.
