Role Overview

The Commerical Director (Gateway) at PayFuture plays a pivotal leadership role in driving the company's revenue growth and expanding market share across the fintech, platform, and high-risk payment processing sectors. In this role, you will lead key sales initiatives, develop and execute innovative sales strategies, and support the management of a high-performing sales function.

Your mission is to strengthen PayFuture's position as a trusted payment solutions provider for merchants across both standard and high-risk industries, including iGaming, forex, crypto, and other regulated or high-risk verticals. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to support sales objectives, contribute to performance planning, and help execute the company's broader commercial strategy. Acting as a trusted advisor to key clients and partners, you will ensure PayFuture's solutions are aligned with merchant needs, enhancing client experience and driving long-term partnerships.

Core Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute sales strategies aligned with PayFuture's commercial growth objectives, focusing on both high-risk and standard merchant verticals to achieve revenue targets.
  • Revenue Maximisation: Work closely with product and revenue teams to optimise revenue performance through blended pricing models or IC++ structures, including fiat and stablecoin settlement solutions.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Support the development, mentoring, and performance management of the sales team. Help establish clear targets, KPIs, and development plans to enhance overall team effectiveness.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders, including enterprise merchants within high-risk industries. Serve as a trusted advisor by understanding client requirements and tailoring solutions accordingly.
  • Market Research & Competitive Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across fintech and high-risk payment sectors, translating insights into actionable commercial initiatives.
  • Revenue Forecasting & Reporting: Maintain accurate sales pipelines, forecasts, and performance reporting. Track progress against targets and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, product, risk, and compliance teams to strengthen go-to-market execution, develop sales enablement tools, and ensure regulatory alignment.
  • Negotiation & Deal Management: Lead negotiations and support the closing of strategic commercial agreements while ensuring risk mitigation and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement by implementing processes that enhance efficiency, visibility, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in sales leadership roles within fintech/platforms, payment processing, high-risk merchant acquiring in emerging markets for APMs & cards.
  • Proven success in developing and executing effective sales strategies and meeting ambitious revenue targets.
  • Deep understanding of payment processing within high-risk verticals, merchant acquisition, chargeback and fraud mitigation, merchant of record (MoR) model and payment gateway technology.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret sales data, market trends, and competitive insights to inform strategy.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and scale high-performance sales teams.
  • Results-driven with a passion for driving growth and building long-term client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary to meet clients, partners, and strategic stakeholders.
