Stakeholder Engagement Manager – Permanent, London

Pay.UK sits at the centre of a complex payments ecosystem and relies on quality stakeholder engagement to shape its strategic direction and to deliver change alongside its daily operations. The Stakeholder Engagement Team plays a central role in Pay.UK, managing and co-ordinating engagement across the business with a wide range of ecosystem stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

  • Producing high-quality written briefs for a senior audience. A key part of the role is supporting members of the executive and Board to prepare them for their meetings with senior external stakeholders. A good quality brief needs to land key points while pre-empting questions and challenges from stakeholders
  • Producing high-quality written analysis and reporting. One of the Stakeholder Engagement Team’s primary responsibilities is to collate and synthesise the insights that Pay.UK receives across a broad range of stakeholders, distilling insights into key themes and advising colleagues and leadership what the organisation should do to address insights (What have we heard? Why does it matter? What should we do about it?)
  • Planning for stakeholder engagement on delivery initiatives. The jobholder will work with others to understand the outcomes needed from engagement, then mapping out the right stakeholders, and the right engagement approach to support the delivery of that initiative
  • Preparing for engagement sessions. The jobholder will support a number of 121s and group sessions with stakeholders and will need to engage colleagues in preparing content, managing those meetings (including administrative arrangements), and capturing the discussion and key outcomes. The jobholder will need to be skilled in representing Pay.UK and effectively communicating its views and positions
  • Working across the organisation. The jobholder will need to build effective relationships with colleagues and be comfortable in providing advice and challenges. Given the nature of our engagement (which covers everything Pay.UK works on), the jobholder will need to develop, and maintain, a solid understanding of Pay.UK’s activities and strategic priorities
  • Build and maintain best practice. The jobholder will help develop guidelines, frameworks and tools to support consistent and effective engagement.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant industry experience
  • Ability to advocate across the organisation, and provide advice and challenge to colleagues, on ensuring quality engagement with our external stakeholders
  • The ability to interpret key insights coming from our external engagements with the capability to identify key themes, why they matter for the organisation, and options for addressing those themes
  • Comprehensive communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to get messages across clearly and concisely. High-quality written briefings and analysis are a core part of the role. Producing high-quality slides will be a necessary skill for the jobholder
  • Proficient in engaging and functioning in an active environment, especially while managing major transitions. The jobholder will need to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work across a very broad range of issues – the team’s work ranges from tactical to strategic
  • Experience in a policy and regulated environment.

At Pay.UK, we value diversity and inclusivity. Research has shown that candidates from underrepresented groups may hesitate to apply unless they meet all the requirements listed. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply, regardless of how closely their skills and experience match the requirements. We are committed to supporting accessibility needs and creating a welcoming environment for all employees. Become part of our team and contribute to the creation of an inclusive work environment that values everyone\’s unique input.
