Pay.UK are currently looking for an experienced Product Owner to lead virtual teams, creating and leading a matrix team to set and deliver our product strategy and manage product performance. You will organise the team to drive activity against the product roadmap and delivery of the annual product plan to meet agreed targets. Being efficient and versatile whilst delivering great quality analysis, written and verbal work is essential.
You will ensure that your products have an appropriate and embedded Playbook in place (product lifecycle, processes, procedures, frameworks), that are kept relevant, up to date, accessible via the Product Hub for the organisation, and aligned across the other product teams. Establishing strong partnerships across Pay.UK, facilitating strong alignment and collaboration to ensure we deliver against our product roadmap and take customers with us is crucial.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage the development of the product strategy and plan for your products.
- Ensure that your products meet end user, customer and market needs, and continue to evolve to take account of payments market developments.
- Manage the delivery plan to ensure priority work can be supported and allow for non-planned work to be considered and resourced quickly and efficiently.
- Define and implement Product Marketing activity for your products, agreeing a calendar of activity with relevant stakeholders and implementing with the Marketing and Business Development teams.
- As 1st line risk owner, understand, document and track the risks associated with your products, along with associated controls and mitigants.
- Ensure that you have robust and regular MI, data and analysis (volumes, income/costs, trends) on which to manage the performance of your products, and recommend action to address any gaps versus target.
- Deliver against set KPIs, applying relevant tools for project lifecycle management such as market sizing and segmentation, customer and end user insights, RAID logs, TOR's etc.
- Support and follow Pay.UK's product management and development processes, including the Product Framework and Playbook and work closely with your product development colleagues.
- Enable necessary knowledge transfer, identify and self-sort learning and development support where required.
- Represent Pay.UK at industry events, including speaking opportunities.
- Any other duties required / general team support.
This role will focus on CoP & RtP products.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a Product Management or Development role, with P&L ownership and examples of delivering product strategies or new product developments.
- A highly skilled and proficient stakeholder manager in the retail payments industry.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment, overseeing the leadership of complex services.
- Product Management experience within the financial services sector is essential, payments industry experience is highly desirable.
- Educated to a degree level in a related field or with the equivalent experience in a work setting.
- Experience in techniques including: market sizing, opportunity analysis, business case development, research & insight, competitive analysis, agile methodologies, P&L management and revenue/pricing/cost management techniques.
- Product development and management skills.
- Understanding and appreciation of how to take product ideas and understand if they will work in practice.
