As our Chief AML Officer for the UK, you will be the architect of RedotPay’s UK regulatory strategy and operational integrity. You will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of our AML/CFT compliance program, ensuring full alignment with UK law — including the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (MLRs), the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (EMRs), and all relevant FCA rules and guidance for both Electronic Money Institution (EMI) and Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) activities.

Regulatory Strategy & Licensing (UK)

  • Licensing Lead: Lead or support the FCA applications for EMI authorisation and VASPs registration (under the MLRs), and manage their ongoing regulatory maintenance, variations, and notifications.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Act as the formally appointed MLRO (and SMF17 where required under the Senior Managers & Certification Regime) with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
  • Fitness & Propriety: Serve as the primary point of contact for the FCA, ensuring the company and key individuals meet all “fit and proper” standards.
  • Regulatory Intelligence: Monitor and analyse updates from the FCA, HM Treasury, and other relevant UK bodies regarding cryptoassets, payments, electronic money, and AML/CTF obligations.

AML/CFT & Financial Crime

  • Framework Management: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) program tailored to UK EMI and VASP activities.
  • Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee KYC, Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring for a diverse UK and international client base.
  • Blockchain Analytics & Transaction Monitoring: Implement and oversee transaction monitoring systems, utilising on-chain analytics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic) to identify and mitigate crypto-specific risks, including compliance with the UK Travel Rule.
  • Sanctions & PEP Screening: Administer global and UK sanctions screening (including OFAC, UN, EU, and UK lists) and Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and adverse media checks.

Policy & Procedure Development

  • UK Documentation: Create and maintain the AML/CFT Manual, KYC Policy, Sanctions Policy, and other key documents to reflect current UK regulatory requirements under the MLRs and EMRs.
  • Operational Integration: Ensure compliance controls are embedded into product workflows, systems, and processes for both e-money and cryptoasset services.

Internal Controls & Reporting

  • Risk Assessments: Conduct regular business-wide risk assessments (BWRA) and internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of the compliance program.
  • Board & Senior Management Reporting: Prepare detailed compliance reports for the Board and senior management, highlighting key risk indicators (KRIs), suspicious activity, and regulatory matters.
  • Internal Oversight: Manage the investigation and filing of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to the National Crime Agency (NCA), maintain records, and ensure timely responses to regulatory requests.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Economics, Compliance, Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 4–7 years of direct compliance or MLRO experience within a UK-authorised Electronic Money Institution (EMI), Payment Institution (PI), or regulated cryptoasset/VASP firm.
  • Expert knowledge of the Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 (MLRs), Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (EMRs), FCA Financial Crime Guide, cryptoasset AML/CTF guidance, and the UK Travel Rule.
  • Hands‑on experience with automated KYC/CDD platforms, sanctions screening systems, transaction monitoring tools, and blockchain analytics solutions.
  • Must be UK-based (or willing to relocate) with the ability to dedicate sufficient time to the role and maintain full independence from revenue‑generating or business development activities.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken).

Highly Desirable (Not a Must)

  • Professional certifications such as CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or ICA International Diploma in Governance, Risk and Compliance.
  • Direct experience with Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs), stablecoins, and DeFi-related compliance in a UK-regulated environment.
