About the role
Based in our Brighton office, you’ll play a key role in strengthening Paxton’s data platform so that it can reliably support Microsoft Dynamics 365, operational reporting, and wider strategic analytics needs. You’ll build on existing ERP integration patterns and SQL standards to scale, stabilise, and improve data flows between ERP and the wider data estate, while improving resilience and reducing single points of failure.
- Build upon, enhance, and maintain data integrations between D365 F&O and the wider data platform in line with established architecture and SQL standards.
- Develop and maintain robust, scalable, and reliable data pipelines supporting operational and analytical workloads.
- Improve the reliability, performance, and resilience of existing data pipelines, integrations, and supporting platform components.
- Identify and reduce technical debt, platform fragility, and single-point dependencies that create operational risk.
- Improve observability, monitoring, alerting, and error handling across critical data flows and systems.
- Support ERP-related data migration, post-go-live integration, and ongoing operational data requirements as needed.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge-sharing materials.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering standards, reusable patterns, and best practices across the team.
- Work closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure data solutions meet business and operational needs.
- Support the resolution of complex or high-impact engineering issues, helping improve the team’s overall support model and platform stability.
- Mentor and support other Data Engineering team members, encouraging stronger ownership, technical judgement, and maintainable engineering practices.
- Contribute to the longer-term evolution of the data platform, ensuring immediate delivery needs remain aligned with strategic architecture and scalability goals.
What can you expect from this role?
- A key role strengthening a data platform underpinning D365 integration, operational reporting, and analytics.
- A focus on improving resilience, observability, and platform stability while reducing operational risk and technical debt.
- The opportunity to influence standards, documentation, and engineering ways of working within a growing Data & Analytics function.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in data engineering, database engineering, or similar roles, building and maintaining production data pipelines and integrations.
- Strong SQL and data modelling skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues methodically.
- Experience working with relational databases and structured ETL/ELT processes in a business environment.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A pragmatic, collaborative approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
The right attitude is more important to us than your skills or experience. If you’re excited about a role but your existing experience doesn’t match up with every element of the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway.
