We’re recruiting on behalf of a major infrastructure services provider that maintains and operates critical trunk road networks across North West Scotland. This is a rare opportunity for an Approved Electrician to work on nationally significant infrastructure across more than 1,400km of roadway, spanning some of the UK’s most diverse and challenging terrain. From remote coastal routes and island connections to busy arterial roads serving key towns and cities, this role offers variety, responsibility, and long-term career stability.

The Role

As part of an established Electrical team and reporting into the Electrical Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of trunk road electrical assets across the region. Your duties will include:

  • Inspection, testing, and planned maintenance of trunk road electrical systems
  • Fault diagnosis and reactive repairs to minimise disruption to road users
  • Supporting electrical upgrades and improvement works
  • Participation in a night-time safety patrol rota:
  • Every 2 weeks (October–March)
  • Every 4 weeks (April–September)
  • Taking part in a 24/7 on-call standby rota (approximately every 5 weeks)
  • Working in line with strict health and safety and compliance standards
  • Contributing technical input and improvement recommendations

    To be considered, you’ll ideally bring:

    • Approved Electrician status with a current SJIB ECS Card
    • At least 4 years’ experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
    • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with good communication skills
    • Solid knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practice
    • Flexibility to work in varied environments, including working at height and confined spaces
