An established and growing civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to join its team in the Highlands. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to join a busy contractor with a strong pipeline of civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
The Role
- Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will be responsible for the commercial management of civil engineering projects from initial stages through to final account.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing project costs, budgets and commercial performance
- Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts
- Subcontractor procurement, negotiation and management
- Preparing and reviewing subcontractor payments
- Cost forecasting and commercial reporting
- Managing change, variations and contractual matters
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Working closely with Site Agents, Project Managers and Contracts Managers
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed commercial targets
About You
- We are looking for someone with:
- Previous Quantity Surveying experience within civil engineering
- Experience working for a civil engineering or infrastructure contractor
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness
- Experience managing subcontractor packages
- Good understanding of construction contracts
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
- Relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification preferred
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience across groundworks, roads, utilities, drainage, earthworks, energy or wider infrastructure projects would be particularly beneficial.
