About the role:

We are looking for an experienced and strategic HR Manager to join our team at our Brighton office on a 15-month fixed term contract to cover maternity starting in October. You will lead a talented HR team and work closely with our Chief People Officer to deliver outstanding HR services that support a culture of performance, growth, and innovation. You will play a key part in shaping the employee experience, strengthening leadership capability, and ensuring our people practices align with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the performance of a professional HR team through coaching, development, and clear leadership.
  • Partner with leadership to build effective organisational structures and future talent strategies.
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality HR support across employee relations, policies, L&D, and change management.
  • Lead complex casework with confidence, including disputes, grievances, absence, and redundancies.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks.
  • Champion learning, development, and performance improvement initiatives across the organisation.
  • Manage critical HR projects that support strategic goals and enhance our people experience.
  • Ensure accurate HR data management, budget oversight, and legal compliance across all areas.
  • Build the HR brand by working collaboratively on cross-functional projects and initiatives.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience managing an HR team with a coaching and development mindset.
  • Expertise in employment law, HR best practices, and complex casework.
  • Strong business partnering skills and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in OD, change management, and capability development.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR systems, data management, and compliance requirements.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent experience.
