As part of the Paxton Group, we collaborate with Paxton Access Ltd and Paxton Access Inc. to create simple and effective solutions using cloud technologies, GSM, mobile connectivity, and IoT. Our systems provide real-time data, remote management, and reporting tools to empower businesses as they grow. We are a small, talented team working across various industries, driving security management to be more efficient and accessible. This remote-based role offers flexibility, with access to Paxton\\\’s modern offices and facilities in Brighton, Sussex, when needed.

About the role

As part of our Development team, you will design and create scalable, secure, and optimised embedded software systems. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and modifying firmware architectures for technologies like ARM Cortex-A/M, RTOS, SPI, I2C, UART, WIEGAND, and Raspberry Pi.
  • Designing, testing, and debugging electronic circuits and PCB layouts using tools like Circuit Studio, Proteus, Multimeters, and Oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborating with the Development team to propose solutions, identify risks, and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Communicating technical changes effectively and supporting team members in their deliverables.
  • Attending monthly onsite team meetings in Eastbourne to discuss products, improvements and future developments.

What we\\\’re looking for

  • Proven experience in embedded systems design, programming (C, Python, RTOS, bare metal, MQTT), and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with IDEs such as Keil uVision, Pycharm, and circuit/PCB design.
  • Hands-on debugging and soldering skills.
  • A confident decision-maker with strong communication and collaboration abilities, driven by continuous personal and technical growth.
  • To be based within the South East, and able to commit to Monthly onsite meetings in Eastbourne.
