This remote-based role offers flexibility, with access to Paxton\'s modern offices and facilities in Brighton, Sussex, when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and modifying firmware architectures for technologies like ARM Cortex-A/M, RTOS, SPI, I2C, UART, WIEGAND, and Raspberry Pi.
  • Designing, testing, and debugging electronic circuits and PCB layouts using tools like Circuit Studio, Proteus, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborating with the Development team to propose solutions, identify risks, and contribute to architectural decisions.
  • Communicating technical changes effectively and supporting team members in their deliverables.
  • Attending monthly onsite team meetings in Eastbourne to discuss products, improvements and future developments.
  • Proven experience in embedded systems design, programming (C, Python, RTOS, bare metal, MQTT), and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with IDEs such as Keil uVision, PyCharm, and circuit/PCB design.
  • Hands-on debugging and soldering skills.
  • A confident decision-maker with strong communication and collaboration abilities, driven by continuous personal and technical growth.
  • Based within the South East and able to commit to monthly onsite meetings in Eastbourne.

Qualifications

  • Experience in embedded systems design and programming, with a focus on hardware/software integration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and systematic debugging approach.
