Pax8 is hiring a Senior Automation and AI Engineer across the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Latvia, Germany and Sweden to raise the technical maturity, security and scalability of the automation and artificial intelligence solutions powering our global business.
This is an opportunity to become the technical quality leader behind the Rapid Innovation Team's growing portfolio of automation and artificial intelligence solutions.
You'll combine hands-on engineering with architecture, technical assurance and mentoring, helping us move from manual reviews to automated, continuously monitored controls. As Pax8 invests further in artificial intelligence, you'll grow alongside emerging technology, shape new engineering methods and influence how secure, scalable solutions are delivered across the business.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership, visibility and room to create a lasting technical legacy.
What you'll shape and deliver:
- Design and build automation and artificial intelligence solutions that solve real business and partner challenges.
- Establish the technical patterns, architecture principles and quality standards that enable teams to build securely and consistently.
- Create automated cybersecurity, policy and technical-feasibility checks, replacing repetitive manual reviews with scalable assurance.
- Review artificial intelligence solutions and provide practical guidance before they move into production.
- Build monitoring approaches that make the health, quality and security of delivered solutions visible over time.
- Act as a trusted technical escalation point, helping engineers navigate complex automation, artificial intelligence and architecture decisions.
- Remain hands-on with delivery while mentoring colleagues and improving capability across the wider team.
- Collaborate with various technology functions, builders, and business leaders across Pax8.
- Support advisory and enablement activity by translating complex technology into clear decisions and useful outcomes.
- Keep pace with emerging technologies and evolving cybersecurity expectations, applying what matters rather than following trends for their own sake.
- Contribute to team learning through documentation, reusable models, coaching and practical knowledge-sharing.
- Take part in occasional team gatherings, including a quarterly team offsite.
The impact you'll make:
Your work will help ensure that every automation and artificial intelligence solution is built with quality, security and long-term sustainability in mind. You'll give teams clearer technical guardrails, reduce manual assurance work and create a scalable model for checking the health of what we build.
You could be a great fit if you bring:
- Substantial hands-on experience developing and architecting production technology solutions for an internal or external user base.
- Proven experience contributing to product or engineering teams and taking technical ownership beyond your individual assignments.
- The ability to operate as a technical lead while remaining comfortable building and delivering solutions yourself.
- Demonstrated knowledge of automation platforms and agent-building technologies.
- Confidence designing applications, automated workflows, artificial intelligence solutions, reports or operational dashboards.
- A practical understanding of secure engineering, technical assurance and architecture principles.
- The ability to distinguish efficient, maintainable engineering from solutions that introduce avoidable complexity.
- Experience working with stakeholders to uncover needs, ask the right questions and take solutions from initial scope through delivery.
- Clear English communication, including the ability to explain complex technical decisions to different audiences.
- A structured approach to competing priorities, detail and changing requirements.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and helping shape methods that are still evolving.
- Hands-on artificial intelligence or automation delivery experience.
- Experience in a growing or start-up-style environment would also be useful.
- A relevant degree, equivalent practical experience or applicable technical certification.
