What You Will Do

  • Work with consumers who have a mental health diagnosis whose severity is impairing their ability to be successful in home, school, work or their community.
  • Provide services which will build skills allowing the consumers to achieve success.
  • Work collaboratively with the consumer and their treatment team to achieve goals as prescribed by the person centered plan.

Responsibilities And Qualifications

  • Review client person centered plans and develop activities to enhance functioning levels in identified areas of need.
  • Provide direct services in location most appropriate based on client need and document progress in each person’s chart.
  • Provide one-to-one support to clients who are in crisis or who need a constant presence in order to remain stable and avoid a more restrictive placement.
  • Collaborate with family members and other members of the treatment team in identifying goals and strategies which reinforce desired behaviour.
  • Responsible for the implementation of scheduled day activities such as exercise, socialization, personal goal setting, illness management and community outings as appropriate.
  • Review client incidents with supervisor and submit written report as outlined in policy and procedure.
  • Advocate for client rights and community integration.
  • Preserve dignity and confidentiality of each person on caseload.
  • Attend and actively participate in clinical supervision and program staffing.
  • Provide input to supervisors and other treatment team members regarding clinical and program issues.
  • Drive to community settings for the delivery of services and related program needs.
  • Meet with the client/guardian where service is needed.
  • Meet administrative and clinical documentation requirements both in terms of content and timeliness as outlined in agency policy.
  • Meet client care hour expectations as outlined in agency policy.
  • Enter and maintain clinical schedule in the electronic health record scheduler.
  • Maintain and advance knowledge and skills related specifically to position or to field of work through regular review of pertinent materials or participation in training events as approved by supervisor.
  • Adhere to the standards, policies and instructions established by PMHS Policy and Procedure and any applicable ethical codes within field of employment.
  • Review and comply with the Pawnee Code of Conduct outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Monitor and assist with medication administration compliance as needed.
  • Perform verbal crisis de-escalation and, if necessary, physical behaviour management interventions using Pawnee’s approved crisis de-escalation program to maintain environmental safety for the consumer and others.
  • Perform all other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other management personnel.

Individual Services Focus

  • Crosstrain in other focus areas (Group Services and School Services).
  • Flex to cover shortages as assigned by supervisor.
  • Provide Respite care as able by law.

Group Services Focus

  • Review client person centered plans and develop group-specific activities to enhance functioning levels in identified areas of need.
  • Work collaboratively with other CSPs in group settings to enhance all client functioning levels.
  • Crosstrain in other focus areas (School Services and Individual Services).
  • Flex to cover shortages as assigned by supervisor.

School Services Focus

  • Provide direct services in the client’s school or community and document progress in each person’s chart.
  • Crosstrain in other focus areas (Group Services and Individual Services).
  • Flex to cover shortages as assigned by supervisor.
  • Work effectively in the school setting, minimising student disruption and acting with professionalism, dignity, and respect with staff members of the school system.

CSPs providing Crisis Services

  • Work with the regional YCS team to provide 24-hour on-call crisis coverage.
  • Pass crisis-specific training and utilise said training in responding to crisis situations while on-call.

Requirements Qualifications Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 years-of-age or older.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data.
  • A valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
  • CSPs in some regions may be required to provide crisis services, and therefore will be required to work rotating on-call shifts.

Preferred

  • Post-secondary education in a human services field and/or related work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.
