Senior Wordings Counsel – P&C (Contract)
£900 per day – Inside IR35
London or Remote
Contract until the end of December 2025
We are working with a leading Insurer who are looking for a Senior Wordings Counsel on a contract basis.
About the Role:
You’ll be responsible for the design, technical content, and final production of insurance documentation across the P&C book, with a particular focus on casualty lines.
You’ll also work closely with underwriters, brokers, compliance, and internal stakeholders to ensure policy documentation is clear, accurate, and compliant with market and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting and approving insurance documentation including policy wordings, IPIDs, Evidence of Cover, certificates, and promotional material
- Providing technical wording advice to underwriters
- Maintaining a centralised library of insurance wordings
- Contributing to product oversight and governance activities
- Developing and maintaining wordings for SME and commercial products
- Supporting internal teams on regulatory guidance and exclusionary language
- Assisting with delegated authority agreements (e.g., binding authority contracts)
- Delivering training on insurance documentation as needed
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent)
- Experience in the London market is advantageous, it is not essential. What’s most important is a strong legal background and the ability to provide high-quality drafting and advisory support from day one
- Proven experience within an underwriting, broking, or law firm environment
- Solid understanding of commercial and SME insurance products, ideally with casualty exposure
- Strong grasp of regulatory product governance frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident in working independently with minimal supervision
- Strong administrative, interpersonal, and time management skills
