Are you an ambitious Assistant Accountant looking for an opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative business where you can really get involved? We're working with a highly successful and rapidly growing global technology-led business based in Brighton, which is transforming the way people buy, sell and trade specialist equipment online. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their Finance team on a 9-month fixed term contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to play a key role in the day-to-day running of a busy finance function.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Reporting Accountant, you'll take ownership of a range of daily and month-end finance processes, helping to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and a smooth month-end close. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing daily sales and purchase reconciliations against cash received and paid
- Investigating transaction issues and tracking them through to resolution
- Completing bank reconciliations using the company's financial close management system
- Ensuring the daily stock position is accurately recorded
- Processing daily batch and manual payments to customers
- Completing month-end tasks including expense analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
- Posting prepayments and accruals
- Supporting the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Supporting the Senior Reporting Accountant with ad hoc finance projects and requests
- Working with the Customer Experience team to resolve customer payment queries
- Using approved AI tools to improve efficiency, productivity and the quality of finance processes
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement across the finance function
About You
We're looking for a hands-on and detail-focused finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid to get into the detail. You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or Finance Assistant position
- AAT Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience
- Strong Excel and wider IT skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- A proactive and curious approach to learning new systems and technology
- A willingness to embrace AI and new technology to improve the way you work
NetSuite experience would be advantageous, but is not essential.
