The role is responsible for providing practical compliance oversight and assurance, identifying gaps and recommending improvements, and helping ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and the delivery of good customer outcomes. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Collective, the role supports a strong culture of regulatory awareness, effective risk management, continuous improvement, and clear customer-focused decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Complete regulatory returns and compliance monitoring plan deliverables: gather and challenge inputs, validate data, meet deadlines, maintain audit trails, and respond to follow-up queries. Stay up to date with regulatory changes, update policies as relevant. Provide clear, practical compliance guidance across the business. Support compliance reporting and management information production and analysis. Maintain the policies register through annual reviews and version control.
  • Risk & Breach Management: Support the management and reporting of risks and breaches through the registers. Identify and assess compliance gaps, incidents, regulatory and policy breaches. Contribute to the recommendation and oversee the completion of practical mitigation actions.
  • Data Protection & Privacy (GDPR): Manage GDPR activities, including Subject Access Requests (SARs), Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), breach reporting, and privacy compliance. Support data governance and good information-handling practices across teams. Keep up to date with changes in data protection legislation and news and guidance from the ICO.
  • Financial Promotions: Review and approve financial promotions to ensure they are clear, fair, not misleading, and compliant. Keep up to date with financial promotions requirements within SYSC and apply changes to relevant processes and controls.
  • Training & Communications: Deliver training on regulatory requirements, internal controls, and expected conduct. Advise teams on operational impact of legislative and policy changes, translating requirements into practical guidance and sharing lessons learned. Support the administration of the Learning Management system and annual learning plan deliverables.
  • Culture and Regulatory: Ensure the principles of consumer duty are given due consideration in all commercial and operational decisions and that practices adopted ensure good outcomes for customers.

Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in insurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations.
  • Ability to describe Consumer Duty requirements and good outcomes.
  • Experience in conducting quality assessments of insurance and/or claims processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with external partners.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear feedback and reports.
