The post holder will manage the delivery of design and build services in a manner that delivers the end-to-end activities of forward programming, ECI, development of feasibility & detailed design options, construction and close out processes (As-built records, H&S files, and final accounting) efficiently and achieves customer outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will involve but are not limited to:

  • Familiarity with pavement design, drainage, road markings, and signage.
  • Understanding of highway construction, maintenance, and improvement schemes.
  • Awareness of contract types (NEC, JCT) and procurement processes.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations.
  • To develop, implement & monitor processes and procedures that achieve client and business key performance indicators.
  • To promote safe working practices in accordance with company Health & Safety Policy and to lead by example demonstrating commitment for zero incidents.
  • Support Clients’ objectives and maintain a strong relationship based on trust and integrity.
  • Effectively support your line manager in the performance and development of a team to meet and exceed company and local business objectives.
  • Adhere to corporate processes, policies and procedures ensuring a consistent approach to delivery is always achieved.
  • Promote a culture of delivering continual efficiencies reducing companies and clients out turn costs.
  • To maintain and enhance the reputation of the company by encouraging and demonstrating our core values.
  • To promote and value our culture of continual improvement while complying with our Business Management System policies and procedures.

About you

A Highways Assistant Project Manager will have experience using a mix of technical knowledge, project management skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, often high-pressure environment.

The ideal person will have:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline, project management or Civil Engineering degree.
  • Experience in the NEC Contract Administration or Project Management of engineering design and construction projects.
  • Experience of financial reporting of project progress detailing cost, value & turnover.
  • Working towards NEC Project Manager accreditation or equivalent.
  • A track record in innovation and best practice.
  • Highway or infrastructure construction background.
  • Working towards Associate or full membership of an appropriate professional institution.

This role is paying £280-£300 per day inside IR35.
