Your new role

The Structure Inspector is responsible for conducting detailed inspections and assessments of bridges and highways to ensure their structural integrity and safety. This role involves identifying and documenting potential issues and ensuring compliance with regulations.

In short you will:

  • Carry out Principal, General and Special Inspections and preparation of reports.
  • Identify signs of wear, damage, and structural deficiencies.
  • Monitor the implementation of safety protocols and repairs to mitigate risks.
  • Assist with programming of works, ensuring minimum disruption to the network.
  • Prepare safe systems of work for site inspections and prepare site RAMS documents.
  • Update asset management records.
  • Attend/assist with network incidents as necessary.

About you

The Structure Inspector will thrive on ensuring the safety and functionality of essential infrastructure. You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively, tackling challenges to maintain the integrity of vital bridge structures.

The ideal candidate would tick the below:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong communication to liaise with stakeholders, both internal and external, including operational teams, members of the public and statutory authorities.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, bridge and highway design, and construction materials.
  • Keen observational skills to identify signs of wear, damage, or potential structural issues.
  • Aptitude for diagnosing issues and proposing effective solutions.
