About The Role
We’re looking for a General Counsel to lead Pave Bank’s legal function and play a critical role in shaping the company’s strategy as we scale globally. This is a high-impact, hands‑on position where you’ll not only manage legal and regulatory matters but also influence key business decisions across product, finance, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Pave Bank’s Legal department, owning all corporate, commercial, and regulatory legal matters.
- Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and executive leadership on governance, regulatory compliance, contracts, and business initiatives.
- Oversee and strengthen regulatory compliance programs, including licensing, AML/KYC, payments regulations, and cross-border frameworks.
- Anticipate legal and regulatory risks and design proactive mitigation strategies that support business growth.
- Manage and coordinate external counsel and legal resources, ensuring timely, high-quality, and cost-effective advice.
- Support corporate initiatives including M&A, fundraising, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Develop and maintain internal policies, governance frameworks, and training programs to ensure compliance and awareness across the organization.
- Provide guidance on emerging fintech and digital asset regulations, keeping Pave Bank ahead of the market.
- Mentor and grow a high‑performing legal and compliance team as the company scales.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified lawyer with 6+ years’ experience at leading law firms or financial institutions.
- Proven experience in digital banking, payments, or digital assets is highly desirable.
- Strong commercial judgment, capable of translating complex legal issues into actionable business advice.
- Demonstrated ability to own legal strategy, manage complex agreements, and influence senior leadership.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high‑growth, and highly regulated environment.
- Experience in cross‑border regulatory environments and global financial operations is a plus.
