PAV Haulage Ltd is looking for an experienced Transport Operator to join our growing operations team based at our London Gateway depot.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced container haulage business, where you will be responsible for planning and coordinating the day-to-day movement of our fleet while maintaining the highest standards of customer service, compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating daily container transport operations.
- Allocating and managing work for drivers.
- Liaising with drivers, customers, ports and internal departments.
- Monitoring vehicle movements and responding to operational issues.
- Managing bookings through the London Gateway Vehicle Booking System (VBS).
- Updating and maintaining transport records using Fargo TOPS.
- Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintaining compliance with transport legislation and company procedures.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have
- Previous experience within the UK container haulage industry.
- Experience using the London Gateway Vehicle Booking System (VBS).
- Previous experience using a Transport Management System (TMS).
- Experience with Fargo TOPS or a comparable Transport Management System.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with drivers, customers and colleagues.
- The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Two or more years’ experience within transport or container logistics.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume transport operation.
- Knowledge of UK drivers’ hours, tachograph regulations and transport compliance.
- Experience working with other UK container ports, including Felixstowe and Southampton.
- Working Pattern
Full-time, permanent position.
Monday to Friday.
Fixed 10-hour shift
Participation in a shared on-call rota for weekends and Bank Holidays is required.
