Engagement Type : Zero-hours worker

Hours : Variable. Due to the nature of vehicle transport operations, accepted assignments may be rostered at any time of day across a 24-hour period, including early mornings,daytime, evenings and overnight. Start and finish times will vary according to the assignment and operational requirements. High levels of work are generally available, subject to operational demand, with accepted assignments commonly resulting in around 35–60 hours per week, depending on availability and applicable drivers’ hours and working-time limits. Hours are not guaranteed.

Working Pattern : Assignments may involve UK-wide travel, overnight staysor tramping and occasional weekend work. Occasional European journeys may also be available. Applicants should therefore be comfortable undertaking this type of work when accepting relevant assignments.

Sleeper Pod and Overnight Stays : The transporter is fitted with a purpose-built sleeper pod with heating, air conditioning and lighting. When tramping, drivers will normally use the sleeper pod for overnight stays and will need to provide their own suitable bedding and a pillow.

Immediate Start Available

Due to continued business growth, PST Ltd, a trading name of Paul Snotra Transport Ltd, is looking for a safe, reliable and professional driver to operate a 7.2-tonne Iveco vehicle transporter together with a Brian James vehicle-transport trailer. Towing, manoeuvring and reversing the trailer will form a normal part of the role.

Your Responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Safely transporting customer vehicles throughout the UK
  • Operating a 7.2T Iveco transporter with a Brian James trailer
  • Loading, securing and unloading vehicles safely
  • Completing daily vehicle inspections and defect reporting
  • Completing delivery documentation accurately
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Following Drivers' Hours Regulations and UK transport legislation
  • Representing PST Ltd professionally at all times
  • Towing, manoeuvring and reversing the Brian James trailer safely

Non-Negotiable Requirements

  • Full UK C1+E License (No Code 107 restriction) or Category CE/Class 1
  • Valid Driver CPC
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card
  • Legal Right to Work in the UK
  • Able to carry out the essential loading, securing and unloading duties safely, with reasonable adjustments considered where required.

Desirable Skills & Experience

The following skills and experience are desirable but not essential. Candidates who demonstrate these capabilities may be more strongly suited to the role. Training may be provided to the right candidate where appropriate:

  • Vehicle transportation experience
  • Trailer towing, manoeuvring and reversing experience
  • Loading, securing and unloading vehicles safely
  • Vehicle inspections and defect reporting
  • Good understanding of digital tachographs and the ability to use a digital tachograph correctly
  • Route planning and time management
  • Good understanding of Drivers’ Hours Regulations and Working Time requirements
  • Prestige or high-value vehicle transportation
  • Confidence using smartphones and transport-related mobile applications

Pay

£14.25 to £17.00 per hour, including rolled-up holiday pay, depending on relevant experience, existing skills and overall suitability.

An additional £25 night-out payment is paid for each qualifying overnight stay away from home.
