We are currently looking for a Senior Designer to lead the design and development of jersey for the PS by Paul Smith collection. PS is our more casual and accessible line, offering a relaxed yet distinctly Paul Smith aesthetic at a more affordable price point. In this role, youâll take ownership of the jersey category from concept through to final product, ensuring each piece aligns with the brand\âs vision while meeting commercial and cost objectives.

The Role
- In close collaboration with the Head of Design & relevant line Co-ordinators, tech teams and print designers, design and develop the menswear PS jersey collection, ensuring the collections are developed in line with the critical paths and are balanced commercially.
- To initiate and collaborate with various teams on research into themes, silhouettes, colour, trims and dye techniques.
- Lead on innovation and newness ensuring we are creating collections and ranges that delight our end consumer.
- Source jersey specific fabric and dye techniques directly with mills and factories and to actively problem solve when limitations arise.
- To work closely with the print designers to apply stripes, jacquards and jersey specific applications such as embroidery or stitching techniques.
- To draw highly detailed technical design CADS for the collection that accurately represent garments, delegating where appropriate to junior Designers including all follow through work, ensuring the smooth running of the collection development.
- To lead fittings and sample reviews ensuring; fit, quality and production reach standards set by Head of Design and Paul Smith Ltd.
- Work with line Co-ordinators and suppliers, to ensure the collection prices are well balanced and in line with market expectations.
- Sending and approving lab dips and yarns. Allocating SMS quantity for each showroom, ensuring the SMS numbers meet target.
- To develop clear and detailed design boards and full colour range plans for the collection and communicate details to buying, wholesale, marketing, visual merchandising, and press departments.
- Ensure all artwork is copyrighted and archived on completion of each season.
Your Skills And Experience
- Previous credible experience of working with a Menâs Ready to Wear collection
- Experienced and able to manage the whole Menswear design process from initial concepts to final presentation in a commercial environment.
- Experienced in mentoring junior team members and the practical processes required to bring a collection together.
- Confident in presenting a menswear collection to commercial managers, and able to demonstrate/reference a good knowledge of current trends and the menswear market generally.
- Excellent knowledge with Adobe design programs on Mac computers.
- Strong market knowledge, understanding competitors and price points.
- Strong mill knowledge, understanding who is showcasing innovation and newness in the market.
