Role Overview

This dual-focused role splits your time between vehicle preparation and advanced EV diagnostics. You will manage the retail-ready preparation pipeline for the new Polestar Leicester site managing your own day-to-day productivity. Simultaneously, you will be able handle complex EV diagnostic faults, working in direct collaboration with our established master technicians at our partner dealership alongside training to the high standard required by the brand. Updating customers with progress reports will also be key in the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilise diagnostic tools and software to accurately identify vehicle faults and malfunctions.
  • Complete comprehensive vehicle inspections using our eVHC and video formats to assess and report electrical and mechanical issues as well as preparing vehicles to approved used standards.
  • Collaborate closely with service technicians to communicate findings and recommend appropriate repairs.
  • Maintain detailed records of diagnostics and repairs in compliance with company standards.
  • Stay up to date with the latest automotive diagnostic technology and industry developments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Provide excellent customer service by explaining diagnostic results and repair options clearly.
  • May be required to move and work between sites as part of your duties.
  • Help shape the operations of a brand-new Polestar site from day one.
  • Manage your own daily workshop output with support from both sales and aftersales managers.
  • Become a cornerstone member of the growing Paul Rigby family.
  • Gain confidence with structured backup from our established master techs.
  • Lock in advanced, factory-supported EV diagnostic skills.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Diagnostic Technician or similar role within the automotive industry.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, engine management, and emission control systems.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic scan tools and software (e.g., OBD-II scanners, manufacturer‑specific diagnostic systems).
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and fault codes effectively.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills with a friendly and professional manner.
  • Full UK driving licence is essential.
