Job Overview: We are seeking a fully qualified Financial Controller who will report to the Finance Director and play a key role in the day‑to‑day financial management of the business. They will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting and high‑quality financial analysis to support commercial decision‑making across the organisation. This role has a strong focus on automation, advanced analysis, and improving finance processes and reporting through the use of technology, alongside ownership of key commercial areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review monthly management accounts and ensure deadlines are met.
- Deliver detailed financial analysis, including margin and profitability analysis by product and customer.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting.
- Oversee accounts receivable and cash collection, implementing strategies to reduce debtor days and improve cashflow.
- Support improvements to finance processes, systems, and reporting, including AI‑enabled and automation initiatives that enhance efficiency and insight.
- Design, maintain, and automate management reports to reduce manual effort and improve decision‑making.
- Lead the statutory accounts preparation and external audit processes.
- Supervise and develop members of the finance team.
What we are looking for in a successful candidate: We are looking for a hands‑on, commercially minded Financial Controller who enjoys working with data, systems, and stakeholders to drive insight and efficiency. Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with a minimum of 2 years’ post‑qualification experience. Strong background in management accounting, FP&A, and financial controls. Advanced Excel skills with demonstrated ability to analyse margins, automate reports, and work with complex data. Experience working with ERP systems and supporting system improvements and automation projects. Commercially minded and a confident communicator, able to work closely with senior stakeholders and commercial teams. High attention to detail, strong ownership mindset, and a proactive, solution‑focused approach. Experience supervising or mentoring junior finance staff is desirable.
Location: Office based in at Paul Rhodes Bakery, SE10 9PJ (Greenwich, London).
