Role Description
The Clerk of Works role is a part-time, on-site position located in St Neots. The Clerk of Works will carry out regular site inspections to monitor construction quality, workmanship, and compliance with specifications and regulations. Responsibilities include recording and reporting site findings, identifying defects or deviations from plans, and liaising with contractors, consultants, and clients to resolve issues. The role also involves reviewing drawings and documentation, checking materials and finishes, and supporting the project team to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of housing projects.
Qualifications
- Experience in construction inspection, quality control, and site supervision within residential or housing projects.
- Strong understanding of building regulations, construction standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Effective communication and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and clients while maintaining professional impartiality.
- Background in construction, surveying, building control, or a related discipline; relevant vocational qualifications or certifications are advantageous.
- Good organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to plan site visits and prioritize multiple projects.
