You'll be part of a small finance team where you'll support across day-to-day finance activities, rather than being confined to one area. There's also scope to contribute to improving processes as the function continues to develop.

About the Business

We are partnering with a well-established, purpose-led organisation based in Stockton-on-Tees. This is an opportunity to join a supportive team environment where your work will have a direct impact on services delivered across the region.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this position will focus on managing the monthly payroll process while contributing to the wider finance function. You'll be responsible for end-to-end payroll, alongside supporting purchase ledger and general finance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end monthly payroll (PAYE, pensions, statutory payments)
  • Processing starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime and expenses
  • Managing payroll queries and maintaining accurate records
  • Posting payroll journals and supporting reporting

  • Identifying and implementing process improvements

What We're Looking For

  • Strong end-to-end payroll experience
  • Experience across purchase ledger
  • Comfortable posting journals
  • Good Excel skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team

This role will suit someone who already has solid payroll experience and can pick things up quickly.

Why Apply?

  • Stable, permanent role
  • Opportunity to work across payroll and wider finance
  • Supportive, close-knit team
  • Opportunity to contribute to improvements
  • Free on-site parking

This isn’t a highly structured corporate environment. If you’re looking for something very narrow or repetitive, it won’t be the right fit. If you want a hands-on finance role in an organisation focused on impact, this one’s for you.
