We\’re partnering exclusively with a growing, design-led Teesside-based business in the furniture and interiors industry to recruit a confident, hands-on Financial Controller.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of finance in a dynamic entrepreneurial group with operations across the UK and US. You\’ll be the most senior person in the office day-to-day, working closely with a fractional CFO who will act as a mentor and interim Financial Controller while you embed into the role and take full ownership.
The Opportunity
This is a key appointment for the business. Following a period of change, including the closure of overseas manufacturing, a digital acquisition, and operational restructuring the business is now ready to stabilise, scale and build a strong internal finance function.
They need someone who can get stuck in, bring clarity to the chaos, and build finance from the ground up, becoming a trusted and visible leader within the organisation.
What You\’ll Be Doing

Take full control of finance across two trading businesses

Produce accurate management accounts, cashflow and board reporting

Reconcile legacy issues, resolve aged balances, and implement financial controls

Act as the lead finance presence in the office daily

Partner with the fractional CFO to transition and embed structure

Mentor and oversee part-time bookkeeping support

Deputise for the owners when needed, providing leadership and confidence
About You

Fully qualified (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or strong QBE with solid SME experience

Proven experience leading finance in a hands-on, fast-paced environment

Resilient, calm under pressure, and comfortable prioritising a varied workload

Highly organised, proactive, and able to bring order and structure
-
A confident communicator who can influence and challenge when required

Experience in product-based, interiors, retail or e-commerce environments is a bonus
