This opportunity offers a clear path from Senior Management Accountant to Financial Controller. This is a progressive opportunity for a Management Accountant or Finance Manager who wants to step up into a Financial Controller role in the near future. You will be joining a specialist engineering business operating within the subsea and offshore sector, supporting complex, project-led work across a global client base. The business has built a strong reputation in its field and continues to grow, creating the need for a more robust and forward-thinking finance function. This is a critical hire for the team. You will play a key role in strengthening and supporting finance from day one.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, a supportive and collaborative leader who has recently joined the business, you will also work closely with the Finance Director, giving you excellent exposure to senior leadership.
What you will be doing:
- Owning the month-end process and producing full management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, including group consolidation)
- Supporting weekly and monthly project reporting, working closely with operational teams
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Leading on audit preparation and liaising with external auditors
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
- Improving processes, controls and systems as the finance function evolves
- Supporting the day-to-day running of finance, including mentoring junior staff
- Providing analysis and insight to support decision making and long-term planning
What you will need:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Proven experience owning month-end end-to-end
- A hands-on approach
- Strong Excel and systems skills (Business Central desirable but not essential)
- Experience working in a project environment (desirable but not essential)
- The confidence to support and influence across the business
