My client is one of the UK’s leading specialist importers, wholesalers and distributors of product to the catering trade. They now supply a vast range of goods to the fast-food trade throughout the UK and Ireland.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient management and day-to-day controls of the Warehouse Operation. Responsibilities include:
- Organising the safe and efficient receipt, storage and dispatch of warehouse materials, goods and products to enable business operations to run smoothly and efficiently.
- Contributing to the creation and implementation of best practice warehouse vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
- Providing a safe working environment, adhering to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and ensuring they are understood and practiced by the team at all times.
- Ensuring inventories are accurate and controlling inventory levels by conducting physical counts and reconciling with automated systems.
- Ensuring that any IT and automated systems are accurate and up to date; identifying any systems improvements and driving through recommendations for change.
- Ensuring efficient and effective use of warehouse space to include layout and future capacity requirements.
- Developing and maintaining metrics/KPIs, reports, process documentation, customer service logs and training and safety records.
- Creating policies and procedures for warehouse activities and ensuring all systems meet the standards for accreditation in line with the quality systems.
- Ensuring that staff comply with health, safety and environmental regulations and work safely to protect themselves and others in the warehouse environment.
Candidate profile:
- Demonstrable experience of running a warehouse, preferably in a fast-moving environment (minimum of 10 years in a supervisory role).
- Proven management skills with the ability to optimise team performance and development.
- Highly developed inter-personal and communication skills coupled with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels within the business.
- Ability to build, lead and motivate a skilled team able to meet objectives and agreed targets.
- Exemplary IT skills, particularly in spreadsheets and databases, and knowledge of warehouse systems.
- Analytical and numerical with strong decision-making skills.
- Coaching, managing and developing warehouse staff and team leaders to optimise performance and meet targets and deadlines.
- Working as part of the Senior Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery.
- Communicating with warehouse staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities, targets and operational requirements.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
