Due to continued growth across our business, we are seeking an ambitious and motivated Transport Planner to join our expanding team based in our Southampton Office.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of development and infrastructure projects across the residential, commercial, retail and mixed-use sectors.
As part of our experienced Transport Planning team, you will contribute to projects from initial feasibility and planning stages through to delivery, helping our clients secure successful outcomes and creating transport solutions that make a positive impact on communities.
Our Transport Planning specialists support developments ranging from small residential schemes through to strategic developments and major sites comprising hundreds or even thousands of homes.
Working alongside our Civil Engineering team, you will gain exposure to a wide variety of projects while developing your technical and professional expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.
As a Transport Planner, you will play an important role in the delivery of transport planning commissions, managing projects and supporting senior colleagues across a broad range of schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and delivering small to medium-sized projects from inception through to completion.
- Producing high-quality Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and Access Appraisals.
- Undertaking trip generation and distribution assessments using industry-standard methodologies and software.
- Preparing and reviewing planning drawings, including visibility splays, vehicle tracking and access proposals.
- Undertaking site visits and providing practical transport planning advice to support scheme development.
- Attending meetings with clients, project teams and Local Highway Authorities.
- Supporting consultation events and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Preparing fee proposals and supporting the delivery of larger projects where required.
- Developing strong working relationships with clients, planners, architects and local authority representatives
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about transport planning and keen to progress their career within a growing consultancy.
You will ideally have
- A degree-level qualification in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
- At least three years' experience within a transport planning environment.
- Working knowledge of relevant design guidance and local planning policy.
- Experience using Auto CAD, TRICS and transport modelling software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A desire to develop professionally, including working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
