The Marketplace Director is a pivotal role, leading Pattern’s brand partner go-to-market strategies across emerging European and global digital marketplaces. This role is at the core of Pattern's worldwide ambition, tasked with driving scalable expansion and a diversified e-commerce offer for brands. You will be instrumental in developing top to top marketplace relationships, solving complex brand pain points, enabling their swift and impactful acceleration across the global market. These efforts span key European marketplaces like TikTok Shop, Zalando, Allegro, Bol, Otto, and eBay, among others.

What is the day in the life of our Marketplace Director?

  • Develop and implement comprehensive go-to-market strategies for Pattern brand partners across various selling platforms.
  • Develop and champion strategies for brands to expand their presence globally, specifically enabling European brands to succeed outside of Europe and international brands to accelerate within the European market.
  • Lead our marketplace scalability effort: develop frictionless systems which allow brands to be ‘always on’ in European marketplaces with minimum resourcing.
  • Drive operational efficiencies through process improvements, automation, and strategic resource allocation, ensuring smooth and scalable operations across all marketplace channels.
  • Manage and develop your direct reports and be responsible for various marketplaces managed by those reporting directly to you.
  • Cultivate and lead top to top relationships with marketplace partners, serving as the primary point of contact and ensuring alignment with their business objectives and growth goals.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams such as marketing, sales, operations, and finance to coordinate efforts and maximise marketplace opportunities.
  • Analyse marketplace data and trends to identify opportunities for growth, optimization, and expansion into new channels or regions.
  • Develop and execute business plans tailored to each marketplace platform, leveraging insights and best practices to drive sales, increase visibility, and enhance brand presence.

What will I need to thrive in this role?

  • Direct experience in managing one or more Amazon or non-Amazon marketplaces (Bol, Otto, Zalando, Allegro, etc) and operating in an online, marketplace, multi-channel, or retail environment.
  • Experience in driving technical integrations between enterprise businesses.
  • Proven track record of success in driving sales and growth on platforms.
  • Deep understanding of marketplace dynamics, trends, and best practices, with the ability to adapt quickly to changes in the e-commerce landscape.
  • Solid business acumen and ability to conduct and analyze retail math to assess key retail metrics, make informed decisions, and optimize operations.
  • Previous team or cross-functional management experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies, including business planning, partner relationship management, and performance optimization across multiple platforms and channels.
  • Self-motivated and proactive. Proven track record of looking outside your own scope of responsibilities on other projects or initiatives beneficial to the business.
