We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and legal requirements.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on lorries and trailers.
  • Carry out brake repairs, engine diagnostics, tyre replacements, and other essential repairs.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work carried out, including parts used and repairs performed.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards before returning to service.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment or modifications as required.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times during maintenance activities.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and compliant with environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an HGV or commercial vehicle mechanic.
  • Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and electronic testing equipment effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to repairs.
  • Valid UK driving licence; Class 1 (C+E) licence is desirable but not essential.
