Role Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Investment Lead to join our GPMS European team, based in Edinburgh. You will be a knowledgeable and competent private equity specialist, with strong investment judgement, capable of independent activity in all aspects of investment transaction work, project management and the origination of opportunities. You will show capabilities in the areas of client management and fundraising under the guidance of senior colleagues. You will also bring experience of assessing specific parts of the private equity marketplace (geographies, sectors and/or size and/or style/type) and leading new commitments.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
- Lead and execute private equity investment transactions across the full lifecycle, demonstrating consistent and sound investment judgement.
- Independently manage deal execution, due diligence, analysis and project management, including leading new investment commitments.
- Originate investment opportunities, including developing new GP relationships and contributing to sourcing strategies for primaries, secondaries and co‑investments.
- Manage GP relationships and contribute to ongoing portfolio oversight, applying macroeconomic, sectoral and behavioural insights.
- Support and participate in fundraising activities, including investor meetings, product development and approval processes.
- Oversee and deliver high‑quality client reporting, diligence responses, presentations and pitch materials.
- Supervise, mentor and develop junior team members, providing clear guidance, feedback and leadership within deal teams.
- Contribute to the broader business through internal initiatives, cross‑functional collaboration, external representation, and development of networks that generate new, actionable deal flow.
Role Specific Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge
- Significant experience of leading the full indirect private equity transaction lifecycle.
- Fluent English with working knowledge of another European language helpful (but not necessary).
- Strong IT literacy including Excel modelling, Word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to self‑motivate, handle multiple tasks effectively and work within tight deadlines as well as motivate wider team with good delegation skills.
- Strong people management skills.
- The ability to think and act strategically as well having an eye for detail.
- Strong numeracy skills in a commercial context.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving business with ambitious plans for growth.
