Role Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and technically expert senior funds lawyer to work across all legal aspects of our products and mandates, in collaboration with tax, compliance and other relevant teams to deliver effective, efficient and risk‑managed client outcomes.
Key Responsibilities Of The Role
- Product/mandate structuring – ensuring the optimal legal structuring of new products/mandates (including negotiating fund and investor documentation and managing mandate closes) and providing legal and structuring support for existing products/mandates, in close collaboration with the Investment, Tax, Compliance, Operations and other relevant teams.
- Providing general legal and regulatory advice to the GPMS business in relation to its investment management activity.
- Identifying, managing and escalating legal and regulatory risks within the GPMS business in relation to its investment management activity.
- Managing key external legal counsel relationships.
- Managing the integration of the GPMS Legal team into the wider Patria Legal function.
- Providing ad‑hoc support to Legal team colleagues focused on Investment execution activities.
Role Specific Qualifications, Skills And Knowledge
- Qualified lawyer
- Expertise in UK and EU funds regulation, including AIFMD
- A background in Private Equity, ideally direct and indirect
- Deep experience of Private Equity structures, entities and regulations. Experience with regulated and/or liquid/semi‑liquid funds, as well as traditional closed‑ended fund structures, would be an advantage
- Demonstrate personal profile and credibility with key stakeholders
- Ability to self‑motivate, handle multiple tasks effectively and work within tight deadlines as well as motivate the wider team with good delegation skills
- Previous experience in PE fund structuring
- Strong people management skills including recruitment, development and planning experience
- The ability to think and act strategically as well as having an eye for detail
- Strong numeracy skills in a commercial context
