The Opportunity

As the Senior Motor Trade Executive, you will be the driving force behind growth across our Motor Trade Combined and Road Risk portfolios. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will operate as a player–manager: leading by example with your own income targets while coaching, developing, and inspiring a team of Sales Executives. This role is perfect for a self‑motivated, commercially astute insurance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, excels at building relationships, and understands the nuances of the motor trade sector. You’ll shape team performance, elevate service standards, and play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development — Secure new Motor Trade accounts across both combined and road risk sectors, delivering accurate quotations via phone or face‑to‑face visits.
  • Client Relationship Management — Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with customers and insurers, ensuring exceptional renewal retention.
  • Leadership & Team Management — Lead the Motor Trade Sales team, driving performance, coaching individuals, and refining processes to maximise results.
  • Complex Risk Handling — Take ownership of larger or more technical risks, using your expertise to guide underwriting discussions.
  • Operational Support — Assist with MTAs, administrative tasks, and customer service when required to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Cross-Selling — Identify opportunities to introduce wider commercial insurance solutions to existing clients.
  • Data & Compliance — Maintain accurate CRM records and ensure all processes meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Performance Delivery — Consistently achieve or exceed both personal and team sales targets while upholding exceptional service standards.

  • Leadership Capability — At least 2 years’ experience leading or mentoring sales teams.
  • Communication & Negotiation — Confident, articulate, and persuasive, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Target Driven — Proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals while maintaining outstanding customer service.
  • Technical Competence — Comfortable analysing risk data, understanding underwriting appetite, and navigating CRM systems and insurer portals.
  • Flexible & Mobile — Able to travel to other offices or visit clients when required.
