Shape the future of a growing rural business. Following the recent merger of Peter Graham & Associates (est. 2007) with the family firm Paton & Co, we are entering an exciting new phase of growth. We are now looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Senior Rural Surveyor to play a key role in building the next chapter of the business. This is more than a job - it’s an opportunity to help shape a modern rural consultancy, develop your own client base and make a genuine impact.
About us: We are a team of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents with offices in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Elgin and the Black Isle. Our work spans rural land management and professional services across Scotland and Northern England. We combine deep local knowledge with practical, high-quality advice delivered with a personal, relationship-led approach that sets us apart.
The opportunity: This is a senior, outward-facing role with a strong emphasis on business development and client leadership. You will take ownership of growing our presence across Scotland and Northern England, identifying opportunities, winning instructions and building lasting client relationships, while being supported by an experienced and collaborative wider team. Alongside this, you will deliver a broad and interesting mix of rural professional work, including:
- Rural property and land management
- Valuations and landlord & tenant matters
- Renewables and energy projects
- Natural capital and emerging environmental markets
- Compensation and compulsory purchase work
This role offers real scope to build something of your own within a supportive, well-established business.
What we’re looking for: We’re looking for someone who combines technical strength with commercial drive and a genuine enthusiasm for rural business. You will bring:
- RICS-accredited degree (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience
- Registered Valuer status
- A proven track record in business development and fee generation
- Confidence in winning and leading client instructions and developing key relationships
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team
Experience in renewables or infrastructure work would be advantageous, but not essential. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior role at a pivotal moment for the business. You’ll have the freedom to grow your own portfolio, influence direction and be part of a forward-thinking team.
We offer:
- Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
- Flexible base across our office network (Berwick-upon-Tweed preferred)
- Company pension
To apply, please send your CV and a covering letter.
