About the School

Pathways School is a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health school offering a full national curriculum adapted for pupils from Year 1 to 11.

Main purpose

The HLTA role will involve leading the teaching and learning for whole classes in the absence of the class teacher and for specific group and individual interventions, including planning learning opportunities, marking and assessment for KS1. The HLTA will be expected to lead aspects of the wider support worker team.

Qualifications and experience

  • Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills (GCSE Level 4 or equivalent in English and Maths desirable).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a SEND/SEMH school setting.
  • Experience of successfully leading group and individual programmes and interventions that impact pupil learning.
  • Ability to work with a range of children and young people with additional and complex needs.
  • Good knowledge of the primary curriculums.
  • Team player with strong working relationships, flexibility, enthusiasm, resilience and a good sense of humour.
  • Committed to ongoing personal development.
  • High aspirations in teaching and learning for all children and young people.
