Job Title: Employer Relationship Manager (ERM)

Main purpose: This role works closely with employers to identify and secure vacancies and work placement opportunities for our customers. You will quickly build relationships with local employers and match their employer needs to the customer requirements in order to meet the Apprenticeship Targets. Reporting to the Quality and Training Manager you will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be an artful influencer and negotiator.

The post holder will

  • Engage employers (local and national) to secure job opportunities and create new vacancies for Clients by matching PWL services with employer needs.
  • Actively promote PWL Services to employers, schools, partners and potential clients.
  • Work with local and national employers to build a relationship of trust and mutual benefit.
  • Continue to develop and maintain strong relationships with employers with whom PWL’s Clients have been placed to ensure that PWL are aware of and address any issues with regards to customers or levels of service.
  • Work with employers to ensure that they look to PWL to support them with their long‑term recruitment, training and business support needs. Deliver high levels of job sustainability, customer and employer satisfaction and quality of service.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the local labour market and employers and be aware of national labour market trends and developments.
  • Work with PWL colleagues and partners to identify and match suitable customers with job vacancies/placement opportunities/employers.
  • Pre‑vet placements for customers.
  • Provide feedback on employer demand and requirements to influence the relevant area of PWL product development.
  • Achieve profiled starts in line with PWL and deliver to agreed contractual requirements.
  • Monitor employers and/or placements to ensure adherence to PWL Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork in agreed timescales and to quality levels required.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date employer/placement files in accordance with PWL procedures.
  • Encourage local community and voluntary organisations to look for ‘gaps’ in performance; provide opportunities for them to innovate and develop local vacancies.

  • Actively engage employers by a mixture of appropriate and cost effective communication channels.
  • Build a strong working relationship with employers to meet contractual and PWL targets.
  • Maintain and update details of employers on relevant systems ensuring all data is up to date for those records where the post holder is the ‘relationship’ manager.
  • Cascade new opportunities to relevant staff, customers, and partners through use of relevant systems and ensure all potential leads are followed up and maximised.
  • Provide accurate information regarding anticipated requirements for numbers and types of placements/work opportunities.
  • Provide feedback on employer demand and requirements to influence PWL product development.
  • Adhere to PWL’s standards for quality, equality, health, and safety, safeguarding and sustainability.

Person Specification

  • Experience of employer engagement, marketing and selling in a recruitment or other service environment.
  • Able to demonstrate success in building and maintaining effective business relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Demonstrate continued success of having met and exceeded stretching targets.
  • Knowledge of local labour market and knowledge of employment trends, business threats and opportunities, also commercially aware.
  • Proven sales and selling capability with high levels of quality in delivery.
  • High levels of time management and planning ability.
  • Knowledge of Government funded programmes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills.
