Our client, a leading law firm based in Belfast City Centre, is seeking an Employment Lawyer to join their established and highly respected Employment team. This role offers the opportunity to work exclusively on claimant-side matters, representing trade unions and their members across a wide range of Employment Tribunal claims.

The successful candidate may be a Solicitor (ideally 2-3+ years' PQE), a Barrister with Employment experience, or a career Legal Executive/HR professional with strong tribunal exposure. You will work on complex, high-profile and multi-claimant cases, gaining exceptional experience in challenging and meaningful work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and represent clients (primarily trade union members) in Employment Tribunal matters including unfair dismissal, discrimination, equal pay, breach of contract, whistleblowing and holiday pay claims.
  • Manage a varied caseload of both individual and high-profile multi-claimant actions.
  • Prepare tribunal documentation including ET1/ET3 forms, witness statements and bundles.
  • Conduct advocacy at preliminary and, where appropriate, full hearings (or support counsel where required).
Client Advisory & Support
  • Provide clear, pragmatic advice to clients at all stages of the tribunal process.
  • Build strong relationships with trade union partners and their members.
  • Participate in meetings, case reviews and ongoing strategy discussions.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Employment team to deliver a cohesive and high-quality service.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and development within the department.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Solicitor with 2-3+ years' PQE, or Barrister with proven employment law and tribunal advocacy experience, or Career Legal Executive/HR professional with significant employment tribunal experience.
  • Experience handling claimant or respondent tribunal cases.
  • Strong advocacy skills and confidence presenting before the Tribunal (or supporting tribunal preparation).
  • Excellent communication, drafting and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied caseload with competing deadlines.
  • A genuine interest in claimant-focused work and social-justice aligned practice.
