Defence Litigation Solicitor, Belfast / Downpatrick, £Neg Overview Pathway is delighted to be working with an established law firm with offices in Belfast and Downpatrick as they seek to appoint an experienced Defence Litigation Solicitor to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with experience in defence litigation, particularly road traffic accident claims, who is looking for a role offering a strong salary, quality litigation work and genuine flexibility.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of defence litigation matters, handling cases from initial instruction through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities Manage a caseload of defence litigation matters, with a particular focus on road traffic accident claims.

Handle cases from initial instruction through to settlement or hearing.

Assess liability, causation and quantum and provide clear advice on case strategy.

Draft pleadings, applications, witness statements and other litigation documentation.

Review medical evidence, expert reports and supporting documentation.

Conduct settlement negotiations and work towards the efficient resolution of claims.

Liaise with clients, insurers, experts, counsel and other parties throughout the litigation process.

Ensure files are progressed efficiently and in accordance with relevant court procedures and client requirements.

Maintain a high standard of client care and provide clear, commercially focused advice.

Essential Skills and Experience Qualified Solicitor with relevant experience in defence litigation.

Previous experience handling road traffic accident claims is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of litigation procedure and claims handling.

Confident managing a caseload independently.

Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Commercial and pragmatic approach to resolving claims.

Ability to build strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
