At Pathway Academy Zone, you will be working with young people who need more than just lessons - they need structure, belief, and someone who can genuinely engage them.

We are a new school in North Northamptonshire, and because of that, this role is rare.

You will not just be delivering a curriculum handed down to you - you will help shape how learning is delivered here.

You will have a direct line to leadership, real influence over the school’s development, and the opportunity to build something that lasts.

We are looking for a Core Subject Tutor who can deliver English, Maths and Science, while also contributing to a broader curriculum that supports personal development and real-life readiness.

You will work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis, helping learners who may have faced barriers in mainstream education to re-engage and progress.

  • What You Will Be Doing
  • Delivering engaging sessions across English, Maths and Science (KS3/KS4)
  • Supporting delivery of wider curriculum areas including PSHE, RSHE, Humanities, RE and PE
  • Adapting teaching approaches to suit individual learning needs
  • Working closely with learners with SEMH and additional needs
  • Building strong relationships to improve behaviour and engagement
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining clear, accurate records
  • Supporting learners towards positive outcomes and progression
  • What We Are Looking For
  • Experience working with young people, ideally within alternative provision or similar settings
  • Confidence delivering core subjects at KS3/KS4 level
  • Ability to engage learners who may be disengaged from education
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills
  • A calm, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Teaching qualification or relevant subject-based degree

Desirable

  • Experience with SEN or SEMH learners
  • Background in alternative provision or PRU settings
  • Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation training
  • Why Join Pathway Academy Zone

We are a new school.

That means this is not a role where you clock in, follow a script, and clock out.

It means you will be part of something being built - with real influence over how it grows.

  • Small group sizes. Real, visible impact with every learner
  • Full school holidays - term-time contract with all school holiday periods included
  • Established headteacher leading the school with a clear vision and strong safeguarding culture
  • Protected CPD time - weekly collaborative planning as a staff team
  • Training in trauma-informed practice, SEMH, and behaviour de-escalation (Team Teach)
  • Functional Skills, AQA Unit Award, and Entry Level qualification training and support
  • Visits to other AP settings to benchmark and develop your own practice
  • Because we are new, you help shape the CPD offer - your voice matters here
  • Salary progression linked to performance and school growth
  • Leadership and Support

Pathway Academy Zone has an experienced, established headteacher in place with a clear vision for the school.

You will be supported by a leadership team that understands alternative provision and is committed to getting it right - for staff as much as for learners.

Safeguarding

Pathway Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and safer recruitment processes.

References will be sought prior to interview.
