Senior BI Developer with Power BI, SQL and data modelling expertise required by a data-oriented organisation entering a critical phase of BI maturity. In this role you’ll lead BI development, define core frameworks and influence reporting and modelling across the business. This role suits a Senior BI Developer used to operating in smaller environments where they’ve shaped BI from the ground up. The company is fast-growing, commercially successful and led by a data-literate CEO. Stakeholders are cooperative, understand the value of BI and are ready to act on insight. The business is well-funded and culturally non-corporate, with a professional but collaborative environment. The data journey is progressing but remains early stage, offering genuine scope for a Senior BI Developer to build scalable, strategic BI foundations that will impact the entire organisation.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports
- Optimise data models and SQL queries for performance
- Define BI standards including naming, version control and security
- Act as Power BI subject matter expert and mentor
- Support data integration with IT and data teams
- Engage directly with stakeholders to gather and translate reporting needs
Required
- 5+ years’ BI development experience
- Advanced Power BI including DAX and Power Query/M
- Strong SQL skills (SQL Server, Snowflake or similar)
- Portfolio of previous BI work
- Experience with large dataset optimisation
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake
- Experience with Looker or other BI tools
- Knowledge of cloud data platforms (e.g. BigQuery)
- Exposure to Fivetran, Kleene or similar
- Familiarity with data governance and GDPR
This role is a remote biased hybrid position requiring around 1 day a week onsite as required with no fixed rota. Therefore, this would suit candidates from Manchester, Liverpool, Blackburn, Preston, Chester and even North Wales or Birmingham.
