We are a GP Practice Network, providing care to over 30,000 patients across six locations in Plymouth. We have approximately 140 employees in diverse roles including GPs, Pharmacists, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Patient Advisors, Administrators and many more! About the Team: You’ll join a relatively new team – HR, Payroll, Training and Development - who will be clear about our role of creating a positive and impactful learning experience for all at Pathfields. You’ll work alongside colleagues within the new team and across the organisation to plan, co-ordinate, develop and deliver our learning and development programme.
About the role: In conjunction with the HR Business Manager, you'll contribute to the design and delivery of training. You should be creative and resourceful in identifying training in an environment where budgets are tight. You’ll bring significant working experience of using Microsoft tools, and other platforms and technology including Teams and be used to supporting others. You’ll have a positive, can-do approach and the ability to work with initiative, being curious and always thinking ahead to anticipate need and deal with issues. You will deliver training to groups or individuals via a range of methods such as online, face-to-face or blended learning. You will often have specialist knowledge in a particular technical, vocational or behavioural field. Collaboration will be key to your approach, and you’ll be detail orientated and be great at managing your time and priorities and working to consistently high standards. You’ll plan, co-ordinate and support the successful delivery of all our online and in-person events, including being available and involved as needed on site. As a brilliant communicator, you’ll have a positive outlook, work well with others and be organised, calm and tenacious to get things done. In this role, you will need to travel across all six sites in Plymouth and so personal transport is essential.
Job Summary: As a training and development officer, your job is to equip staff with the knowledge, practical skills and motivation to carry out their work activities effectively. You will also support in the delivery of the organisations training and development programme. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure employees receive the necessary training to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of Pathfields Medical Group. In conjunction with the HR Business Manager, you will support the implementation of services, policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities: The following are the core responsibilities of the Training and Development Officer. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- Create and/or deliver a range of training using face-to-face, digital and blended learning options.
- Manage the onboarding of GP students and trainees to ensure a smooth and robust induction process and ongoing support whilst they are with Pathfields.
- Liaise with the relevant partner and GP mentors to ensure adequate support is available to the students and trainees.
- Monitor and review the progress of trainees through questionnaires and discussions with managers, and provide trainees with timely and constructive feedback.
Key Focus for first six months:
- Review, develop and implement a robust induction programme to ensure we have a fit for purpose induction process for all staff and students working at Pathfields.
- Implement quarterly training materials for all teams.
- Develop a range of management and leadership training for all managers.
Person Specification – Training and Development Officer
Essential Qualifications:
- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Learning and Development Qualification or working towards.
- Minimum 1 years experience of developing and implementing Training and Development programmes and relevant materials.
Experience:
- Proven track record of developing and delivering training to staff at all levels.
- Experience of deploying a wide variety of training methods.
- Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc).
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral and presenting).
- Proactive, enthusiastic and innovative approach to work.
- Strong IT skills (generic).
