About the Role

As a Rail Plant Engineer, you will carry out LOLER and PUWER inspections, servicing, and maintenance of plant machinery and attachments used within rail and civil engineering environments. The role includes weekday engineering support and paid weekend rail cover, ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for use. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, complete accurate documentation, and work closely with engineers, clients, and rail stakeholders while adhering to strict safety and compliance standards.

About You

To succeed as a Rail Plant Engineer, you will have hands‐on plant engineering experience and a strong understanding of rail and plant hire regulations. You will be comfortable working independently or as part of a team and take pride in leaving equipment and work areas safe and compliant.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Plant Engineering or equivalent
  • At least three years' industry experience
  • Strong knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations
  • Rail industry experience preferred
  • PTS qualification or willingness to work towards it
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Confident using computer-based systems and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving license
