We have an exciting opportunity for a Shift Engineering Team Lead to join our Edinburgh bakery here at FBC UK. This role sits within our dynamic and rewarding Engineering function, where you’ll have the chance to develop both your technical expertise and leadership capability. As part of a fast‑paced, highly skilled team, you’ll play a key role in supporting our operations while shaping a brilliant long‑term career path within FBC.

Shift pattern - 6am – 6pm day shift, 6pm – 6am night shift. (3 days on, 2 days off, 2 nights on, 3 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 nights on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 nights on, 2 days off)

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage activities across Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, and HR, reporting to the Craft Engineering Manager
  • Coordinate shift-based maintenance teams and support technical interventions
  • Contribute to the implementation of new engineering projects
  • Define, organize, and manage periodic overhaul programs
  • Oversee all planned and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Optimize maintenance spend to help achieve production targets cost‑effectively
  • Plan and execute predictive maintenance tasks
  • Assess and prioritise on‑shift maintenance requests
  • Ensure the correct application of safety standards and promote safe behaviours
  • Lead budgeting activities, identifying required resources such as: Personnel, spare parts, external service providers and other operational costs

Who We Are Looking For

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering
  • Proven experience in an FMCG engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance processes, reliability principles, and performance management
  • Effective interpersonal and managerial skills, with the ability to lead and support shift teams
  • A strong team player with a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent communication skills, able to interact confidently with your own team and the broader bakery management group
